Every year, the Lemon Festival called 'Fete Du Citron' is held in Menton, France for three weeks from mid February. This time, the festival started on 17 February and will end on 7 March. Menton, an ancient city of France which was inhabited since paleolithic era, is located in the beautiful picturesque area of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur. The festival which is the largest in the south of France, attracts over 250,000 visitors each year.
Menton is nicknamed as 'Pearl of France'. Menton's lemons are prized and sought after for their unique taste, smell, brightness, shape and richness in essential oils. 145 tonnes of lemons and oranges are used to cover and decorate huge temporary statues, buildings and exhibits set up for specially for the festival.
The Lemon festival is organized into several sessions such as Parade of Golden Fruit, Moonlit Parade, The Citrus World Tour and Gardens of Light. Now a short journey through pictures, into the World of Lemons!
